Go on Little Lamb
I joined my school's equestrian team. Awesome right? So far, it isn't looking too bad. There's a hitch to it, though. What is it that gives people the impression that I'll do as they say? I have an automatic bitch face, a stuck up attitude, and more traits that don't give such a sweet idea.
Let's get some context for this. My horse, Spike, is built to excel in the English/Classical classes. I need to be able to use two hands to help him move well. Western classes have us use only one hand. Spike doesn't get the lift he needs with one hand. My teammate seems to think that her horse is good in the classes Spike is built for. Don't get me wrong, she's an alright rider and she does place above me in show, but (!) her horse is built for the Western classes. He doesn't do English well. He has a shorter stride, a stockier neck, and the ability to look like he's lame when he moves. Absolutely perfect for Western.
Why are they expecting me to do what they want? Sure, they have been the only members of the team for the last three years, but so what? I'm going to make sure that I'm given the fair chance at these shows, especially if they want to go to states. Her horse can't carry the whole team like she thinks it will. Spike will increase the chances because he's got the body to do half the classes. He's trained to the bone, coming from a high class, nationally renowned, training barn. All of his siblings are world champions, along with his sire. The bloodlines and possibility is there. All Spike and I need to be competing at that level is just money. It's thousands of dollars for just one show. Now my bank will be empty with how much I'll have to compete in order to get recognized.
Wish me luck and cheer for me as I kick my team's ass.
